The Balearic Government declares short term rentals to be legal without a tourist licence.

For some time now we have been monitoring and reporting to you the current state of the law regarding renting out properties short term. Ealier this month the Tourism authorities stated that the system of laws that regulate rentals allow for the possibility of renting our flats and homes for any period of time.

The key to doing this in a form that does not require a Touristic Licence is in not overtly providing services specifically for holiday makers or marketing the property specifically as a holiday let.

The statement from the Tourism authority clarifies the situation and should allow owners to rent out with confidence. However, if you are currently renting your Mallorca property or considering investing in a buy-to-let investment here, it is important to be familiar with the detail. There is an excellent overview on the Spanish Property Insight website here – Good news for holiday-home landlords in the Balearics.
