Llucmajor

Llucmajor is a main town directly to the south east of Palma de Mallorca. Not so well known amongst the British it has a deep history and is an agricultural centre and market town.

The most important local crop for which Llucmajor is known is apricots. There is a wide range of other crops grown in the area too and it is very productive farmland.

The countryside around here is less mountainous than many other parts of Mallorca. It is still very picturesque though with undulating hills and, in many areas, there are views to the sea.

The coastline in this district is also lovely albeit interspersed with some relatively new developments to the south of S'Arenal. So part of the commerce of Llucmajor is the management of the tourism in this region.

The Llucmajor area has become popular with the Germans in particular, although it is increasingly well-known amongst the British. The town itself is mostly for local residents and the expats that there are in this area tend to live in the country properties that are lower priced than the Southwest of Mallorca and other popular coastal areas.

Accessibility

The journey time from Palma de Mallorca and the airport to Llucmajor is around 20 minutes. Other towns close by are Montuiri and Algaida and the coastal resorts of S'Arenal and Cala Pi are a short drive away.

Llucmajor is an interesting area, probably not a prime destination for those looking for a holiday home or second semi-permanent property, but Llucmajor itself and the countryside around there offer interesting opportunities for those looking to relocate to Mallorca.

There are good apartments and townhouses in the town and nice country house properties in the surrounding countryside. Property prices here are more affordable than other locations so close to Palma.
