Algaida

Located directly to the west of Palma, Algaida is a typical Mallorca town with its central square surrounded by traditional townhouses with shutters.

This is very much a working rural Mallorca small town. As well as being home to agricultural workers from the farms in the surrounding area, Algaida's proximity to Palma City means that it also functions as a commuter town for the capital.

So the population here is made up predominantly of locals and the tourist industry has had little direct effect on the town. The countryside here is, as with all of Mallorca, very pretty. It does not however have the drama of the Northwest or other popular coastal regions.

The Gordiola glass works are close to Algaida and this is good walking and cycling country.

Accessibility

The journey time from Palma de Mallorca and the airport to Algaida is around 20 minutes. The main town close by is Llucmajor.
