Palma Nova is a very popular sea side resort located on the South West Coast of Mallorca, just a short distance to the west of Palma City.

Palma Nova is one of the busier holiday resorts with many beach-front hotels and apartment developments catering for a wide range of packaged holiday makers.

The resort has more or less merged with Magaluf and offers a similar style of holiday, although Palma Nova is slightly less "in your face" and perhaps more suited to families.

Both resorts evolved out of the post 1960s tourist boom, so whilst the old original harbour in Palma Nova is still there, relatively few of the old fishing boats remain and there are more leisure craft and luxury yachts.

This is primarily a beach resort though. The beach is a super wide sandy beach and the promenade also has plenty by the way of restaurants, bars and nightlife.

As well as the nightlife there are many recreational activities and places to visit including the nearby water parks, go-karting, mini golf, paracending, doughnuting, kite surfing and jet skiing.

As a resort town Palma Nova is quieter in the off-season months and many of the bars and clubs are closed at this time. There is still life here then though and off-season breaks are becoming increasingly popular for those seeking value for money coastal resort destinations but not looking for the fast-pace of life evident here in the summer months.

It has to be said also that the municipality of Calvia has been investing heavily in the Magaluf and Palma Nova area. So you can expect pristine clean beach promenades, lovely clean fine sand, and the blue flag designation that is so sought-after in Mediterranean resorts.

Accessibility

The journey time from Palma de Mallorca and the airport to Palma Nova is around 25 minutes.

Palma Nova is within easy striking distance of all the South West Coast Mallorca resorts such as Magaluf (which is immediately adjacent), Santa Ponsa, Port Adriano, Portals Nous, Illetes and Bendinat.
