Andratx Old Town

Andratx Old Town or "Andratx Village" is a traditional Mallorcan Old Town, characterised by traditional shuttered townhouses and several squares which are the centre of the community.

This is a cosmopolitan place, both a home to locals employed in agriculture and the tourist and property businesses, and also a popular place for the British and other nationalities to own second homes.

Andratx is a relaxed place. Set in beautiful countryside made up mostly of citrus and olive groves overlooked by the southern foothills of the Serra de Traumantana Mountains, Andratx has been affected by the influx of foreigners into Mallorca more than most of its old towns.

The influence is far from bad though. Andratx is a cosmopolitan place with a rich culture as evidenced by the "Centro Cultural Andratx " which is host to contemporary art by artists from Germany, the UK, Mallorca and other countries. This is actually one of Europe's larges private contemporary art galleries.

Andratx is a vibrant all-year-round community. There are excellent restaurants and bars, and every Wednesday there is a very good market. All the Mallorca festivals are celebrated here with a passion!

In line with its cosmopolitan nature, Andratx Old Town is home to a wide range of nationalities including British expats.

Accessibility

The journey time from Palma de Mallorca and the airport to Andratx Old Town is around 25 to 30 minutes depending on traffic.

Andratx Old Town is also within easy reach of a number of other South West Mallorca sea-side resorts including Sant Telm, Paguera, Santa Ponsa, Bendinat, Camp de Mar and Illetes. Es Capdella and Calvia are a short drive away.

Property in Andratx Old Town

Properties are mostly old traditional townhouses some of which have been refurbished and some of which are awaiting renovation. Some have also been converted to apartments. There are some very nice country house finca properties in the surrounding countryside.

This is a charming place with lots of character and well-worth considering for those wanting a second property in a very "accessible" Mallorcan Old Town, or for those looking to relocate to Mallorca and live within a lively and characterful community close to the sea.

Property Prices

Andratx Old Town is a prime South West Coast Mallorca location so properties here are relatively expensive, but offers slightly lower property prices than in the Port of Andratx.
