Santanyi

Santanyi is the main town in the Southeast Coast region of Mallorca. It is a centre to local agriculture and commerce as well as being a residential town and holiday desination.

Santanyi was founded in around 1300 and its heritage as a fortified coastal town is evident in the remains of the old city wall that can still be seen today.

This is a classic Southeast Mallorca Old Town and with a great character that is a draw both to permanent residents and holiday makers.

Holiday visitors are mostly day trippers from the coastal resorts of Cala d'Or, Porto Petro and the other resorts of Southest Mallorca.

There are many very good local restaurants and tapas bars in Santanyi. There is also a very good market and a wide range of shops.

The town is home to landowners, farm workers and also people working in the wide range of businesses that are associated with the holiday trade in this part of Mallorca.

Accessibility

The journey time from Palma de Mallorca and the airport to Santanyi is around 40 minutes. Other popular Southeast Coast Mallorca resorts such as Cala Figuera, Porto Petro and Cala d'Or are a short drive up the coast.

The South Coast resort of Colonia de Santa Jordi is also within easy reach and heading slightly inland is the town of Campos.

A mixture of old and new defines the properties in Santanyi. There are old traditional townhouses, some of which are large and very grand, and some of which are smaller and more simple properties.

Many of the older properties have been converted to apartments, and there are also newer apartments although everything has been done in keeping with the town to keep the character alive.

The surrounding countryside offers some lovely country house / finca properties mixed in with local working farms.

Property Prices

The prices of properties in Santanyi are moderate for Mallorca. It is a sought-after area although not as expensive as other prime coastal areas such as Puerto de Andratx and Puerto de Pollensa
