Located next to Cala d'Or, Porto Petro is almost a suburb of this popular Southeast Coast resort.

Porto Petro has however retained a distinct character despite the development of holiday trade in the area.

This is a operational fishing village and the harbour shares its moorings with fishing boats as well as leisure craft. It is a relatively quiet place so is a popular destination for those seeking a slightly quieter location on this beautiful stretch of coastline.

There are some good restaurants here, particularly the fish restaurants that specialise in the local catch. There are some good small bars too although this is not a place for people looking for clubs and discos.

As well as being a holiday and day tripper destination, Porto Petro is a sought-after location for second properties of wealthy locals and Spanish from the mainland.

Accessibility

The journey time from Palma de Mallorca and the airport to Porto Petro is around 45 to 50 minutes by car. Cala d'Or lies adjacent to the town and Cala Figuera is a short drive along the coast to the south.

The largest town in the area is Santanyi which offers a range of shops, restaurants and a weekly market.

The resort of Porto Colom is not far up the coast from Porto Petro and the South Coast resort of Colonia de Santa Jordi is also not far away.

Property in Porto Petro

With its proximity to Cala d'Or and other Southeast Coast Mallorca towns such as Porto Cristo, Santanyi and Cala Figuera, Porto Petro is a very popular destination.

Properties in the town itself are old traditional fishing village houses (although these are rarely available on the market), and there are some very good community developments of apartments and townhouses close by for those looking for a good holiday property.

There are some very good coastal villa properties in the Porto Petro area and these range considerably in price according to their size and exact location.

The prices of properties in Porto Petro are more or less average for the Southeast Coast of Mallorca. This means more affordable properties than you would find in the main Southwest Coast locations or the resorts of North Mallorca.
