Campos is another Mallorca Old Town. Founded by Jaume II in 1300, it lies on the site of earlier settlements by the Romans and Arabs. These days it is most notable as a lively market town, with markets both on Thursdays and Saturdays selling local produce as well as goods from other parts of Mallorca and the mainland.
In addition to the markets Campos has a very good selection of local restaurants, tapas bars and shops.
Campos is very much an all-year-round community. Home mostly to locals, this is not a major tourist destination, but still finds plenty of day-trippers, walkers and cyclists visiting during the season. Consequently Campos has retained an authentic Mallorcan living environment and atmosphere.
The town is set in very beautiful countryside that is quite different to other parts of Mallorca. It is also slightly hotter in these parts than in the North, North East or North West.

The journey time from Palma de Mallorca and the airport to Campos is around 25 minutes. It is also close to resort towns both on the South Coast (Sa Rapita, Colonia de Santa Jordi) and on the South East Coast (Cala Figuera, Porto Petro, Cala d'Or).
The largest town close-by is Santanyi and Felanitx also is just a short drive away.
Campos is a mixture of apartment properties and traditional townhouses, some of which are very grand old residences, and others of which have been modernised into luxury contemporary living spaces.
There are also old properties still awaiting renovation. There are some beautiful country house finca properties too in the surrounding countryside.
This is an area to consider if you are looking for an authentic and unspoilt location, either for a real getaway holiday home, yet not too far from fabulous beaches and lively resort towns, or for those looking to move to Mallorca .
The prices of properties in Campos are relatively low for Mallorca as this is one of the less well-known destinations and obviously not greatly sought-after for conventional holiday homes or by expats moving to Mallorca. Campos is however a very lovely town and such locations are increasingly in demand, so it is likely prices will escalate over time.
