Porto Pi is used both for military and commercial traffic and is where the King of Spain moors his yacht when spending his summer in Mallorca. Porto Pi is also one of the largest shopping centres in Palma. Closer in to the centre, Paseo Maritimo is a wide avenue with six lanes that run alongside the harbour with its many sailing boats and luxury cruisers. This is the hub of the Mallorcan boating industry and more than a few of the boats moored here fit well and truly into the "super yacht" category.
The yacht club is well known and moorings are sought-after. The sea front of Paseo Maritino is characterised by by large hotels mostly built from the 1920's onward. It is a lively area with nightclubs and many varied bars and restaurants.
El Tereno is the area behind Paseo Maritimo. This is a location with a lot of variety. As one of the older residential areas of the town it has a lively community and many restaurants, bars and clubs. Toward the sea front area is the most busy part and further back El Tereno becomes quieter and more residential.

The journey time from Palma Old Town to the airport is around 5 to 10 minutes depending on traffic.
This is a very central location so all parts of Palma City are within easy reach. There are several superb markets and many excellent restaurants and good bars to choose from.
It is a short drive to the Via Centura that skirts the City so excursions to the beaches of the Southwest Coast or other parts of the island are also easy.
Property in Paseo Maritimo is sought-after due to its sea-front location and convenient access to the world-class yachting facilities that Palma de Mallorca has to offer. Made up entirely of apartments, some new and others converted from old hotels, many of the properties have been renovated to a high standard.
Prices are not quite as high as the Old Town although sea view properties inevitably command a premium.
Those looking for a bolt-hole or permanent home in Palma might also consider El Terrano. El Terrano is an older part of the City but not as prestigious as Palma Old Town.
It is, therefore, less expensive, but still offers some characterful apartment and townhouse properties and a good location close to the centre. Recommended as an interesting area to invest, particularly in the old townhouses as renovation projects.
There is also a strong rental demand for properties, particularly smaller one and two beds as these are taken up by the people working on the luxury yachts who want places to stay when moored in Palma.
