Palma Old Town,

Palma Old Town covers much of the sea front of Palma. The most famous landmark is Palma Cathedral "Sa Seu" which sits majestically on the sea front overlooking the Bay of Palma.

Next to the cathedral is the Palau de l'Almudaina which was the Royal residence in the Middle Ages and is the current quarters for the Kind of Spain when in Palma. The Old Town of "Casa Antigua" is characterised by its classic old townhouses with shuttered windows. Most are grand old buildings and some are actually old palaces. Many have now been turned into apartments and some of these are very luxurious and offer the highest standards of interior design and comfort.

Just to the west of the cathedral is La Llotja (La Longa) which features the same style of classic old townhouse with more restaurants and bars centred on Plaza La Llotja. This is a lively area and represents the social hub of the Old Town area.

Accessibility

The journey time from Palma Old Town to the airport is around 5 to 10 minutes depending on traffic.

This is a very central location so all parts of Palma City are within easy reach. There are three excellent markets and many excellent restaurants and good bars to choose from.

It is a short drive to the Via Centura that skirts the City so excursions to the beaches of the Southwest Coast or other parts of the island are also easy.

Most properties available in Palma Old Town are apartment conversions in the old townhouses as described above. They vary tremendously in size and price, with small apartments further back in the town available for Euro 220.000+, to large sea view apartments with terraces for several million.

Properties in Palma Old Town are highly desirable and continue to be a good investment. Locations close to the sea front line generally fetch the highest prices and despite this, demand continues to grow as Palma becomes more and more recognised as one of the most desirable places to live.

There is also a strong rental demand for properties, particularly smaller one and two beds as these are taken up by the people working on the luxury yachts who want places to stay when moored in Palma.
