C'an Pastilla is actually quite a small resort town. Once primarily a fishing village and still a functioning fishing port, C'an Pastilla is at the beginning of Playa de Palma as you head eastward from the capital.
The town effectively merges with the urbanised areas that stretch along Playa de Palma. These are Sometimes, Las Maravillas, and S'Arenal. So the area is really one long stretch of hotels and beachside apartments with Can Pastilla marking the beginning of the stretch and slightly set aside from it at the head of this part of the bay, and with its own harbour.
Whilst the area has become built up as a beach holiday destination, it is also smart with good facilities. The beach is meticulously kept and there are very good toilet and medical facilities at various points along the promenade.
There is plenty to do here so this is a great family holiday destination. As well as watersports there is the Palma Aquarium and the biggest Waterpark in Europe. There are any bars and restaurants too with some discos and clubs adding to the nightlife.

C'an Pastilla used to be most popular with Germans but now there are increasing numbers of British visitors as well as locals and Spanish from the mainland. This is particularly true in the Spring and late part of the holiday season when there are less people around, and quite often there are long stretches of the wonderful beach that are completely empty.
The journey time from Palma de Mallorca and the airport to Can Pastilla is around 5 minutes, so it is very close and convenient for holidays. For some the planes are an annoyance although for most this does not seem to be a problem.
There are plenty of other places to visit that are not far away. S'Aranel is at the other end of Playa de Palma, Portixol and molinar are a long walk or short cycle / drive away, Palma City is a cycle, drive, cab or quick bus journey, and there are towns inland within easy reach such as Algaida and the larger town of Llucmajor.
There are a few old townhouses and coastal villas in C'an Pastilla, although most of the properties are apartments which vary from older developments built in the 1970's and 19080;s through to modern apartments constructed in recent years.
The apartments in C'an Pastilla tend to be relatively small developments with the larger developments being a bit further down the coast.
This is an area to consider for a holiday apartment property or possible a townhouse or villa. particularly for those who like great beaches and want to have lots of activities and nightlife to-hand. C'an Pastilla is not however as frenetic or "in your face" as Magaluf or Palma Nova which are more "Brits abroad" style resorts.
The prices of properties in Can Pastilla are moderate for the South West Coast of Mallorca.
