Sineu, Mallorca

Located more or less in the centre of Mallorca, Sineu is an agricultural centre and market town to the surrounding Es Pla (Central Plain of Mallorca). In many respects Sineu is an "undiscovered jewel" of a town, well worth a visit and considering for certain types of property.

This is a classic working Mallorcan town. The centre is made up of old townhouses that surround the impressive church and characterful town square.

There are also some newer properties too, mostly apartments and townhouses that have been built in sympathy with the rest of the town and very much with local residents in mind.

Whilst typical of old towns in Mallorca, Sineu has a special character and degree of sophistication to it that sets it apart from many in the more rural areas. In part this comes from the depth of history and grandure of the buildings. It is also a well-off and thriving agricultural community and market town. It is also very well connected by road and also the railway from Palma to Inca and Manacor.

Consequently it has become a cultural and solcial hub. The market in Sineu is one of the best in Mallorca and is visited by locals from all over the region. The town is also a hub for the wine industry and there are several well-known bodegas here. There are some notable restaurants too and a wide range of local cafes and tapas bars.

The countryside in this area is attractive undulating hills punctuated by many farms. A wide range of produce is grown here and sold locally as well as being transported to Palma and exported to the mainland and overseas.

Accessibility

The journey time from Palma de Mallorca and the airport to Sineu is around 35 minutes. Sineu is also service by the train that runs from Palma de Mallorca so the capital is easily accessible and some people live here to be in the country and commute to Palma to work.

Other towns within easy reach include Inca, and also Manacor, so major shopping expeditions are straight-forward.

Arta is also not far by car and the beaches and coastal resorts of the North East and East Coasts of Mallorca are within easy reach for days out.
