Valldemossa is one of Mallorca's most well known tourist destinations and is also a popular and up-market place for locals and foreigners to live. There are also Mallorcans who live in Palma who have weekend properties here.

Port de Valldemossa is adjacent to the main town and remains a small fishing port which has retained its character and offers some super fish restaurants.

Valldemossa is a classic Mallorcan hillside mountain town. The surrounding countryside is made up of a mixture of the orange, lemon and olive groves which are typical of this area and create a particularly attractive rural surrounding.

There are plenty of very good restaurants and local bars and this is a cultural centre for the whole island, partly stemming from it being the place where Chopin stayed in 1838, something of which the islanders are very proud.

The town is also host to many cultural festivals and creative events, including the Frederic Chopin Piano Festival held in the cloisters of Valldemossa Monastery, so there is always something going on here. Consequently it is a day-trip destination for locals as well as foreign visitors.

Accessibility

The journey time from Palma de Mallorca and the airport to Valldemossa is around 25 minutes and Palma itself can be reached in about 20 minutes, so the capital is a viable destination for evenings out meaning there is a very wide range of dining and entertainment facilities to-hand as well.

Valldemossa is also within easy reach of South West Coast Mallorca resorts such as Bendinat, Puerto de Andratx, Illetes and Santa Ponsa, so boating, watersports, golf and other recreational activities are also easy to access.

Valldemossa is also a main route into the mountains so a short drive from Deia, Banyalbufar, Estellencs and Fornalutx.

This is a great place from which to reach many of the attractions Mallorca has to offer both to visitors and to permanent residents.

Property in Valldemossa consists of a range of traditional townhouses, some of which have been converted to apartments, and also grand mansions and country house finca properties in the surrounding countryside.

Property Prices

Property prices in Valldemossa are relatively high as this is a prestigious and sought-after area and is quite close to Palma.

Prices here are however slightly lower than for properties in the key coastal towns such as Puerto de Andratx or Pollensa.
