Located in the Soller Valley, Puerto de Soller is a very beautiful harbour and fishing town. Surrounded by the Serra de Traumantana Mountains, the town is a fishing port as well as a sophisticated and stylish holiday destination.

Puerto de Soller has a unique character with a real local Mallorcan feel mixed with a strong French influence from days when there was much trade from here to the South of France.

Puerto de Soller used to be cut off from the rest of Mallorca by the mountains in these times and this gives the town a distinct air of independence, although there is a tunnel though the mountains now which makes Soller readily accessible from Palma and other locations.

The town retains its charming fishing-village character, and the surrounding countryside going inland into the Soller Valley is a stunning location with lovely walks.

The Soller Valley is also famous for its orange groves, hence the name "El valle de los naranjas" (The Valley of the Oranges) by which it is also known. It is these citrus fruits that made up most of the trade with the French in years gone by.

There is a tramline between Puerto de Soller and Soller Village or Old Town. As well as joining the two towns the tram runs along sea front of the port passing its many bars and restaurants.

The tram is used by locals as well as being an attraction for day-trippers and holiday-makes staying in the area.

Puerto de Soller has many attractions. The sea food restaurants along the harbour are amongst the best in Mallorca, and there are many authentic and very good local tapas bars to choose from.

The main beach is Platja d'en Repic which is on the western side of the bay. As well as some of the best walking in Mallorca, there is scuba diving, sailing and other water sports on offer.

Accessibility

The journey time from Palma de Mallorca and the airport to Puerto de Soller is around 30 minutes via the toll tunnel which costs 4 Euros.

Puerto de Soller is within easy reach of Deia and Palma de Mallorca by road, and there is a mountain train that runs between Palma and Soller Old Town - well worth a trip as it passes through beautiful countryside and stops at some lovely mountainside villages.
