Fornalutx, and Biniaraix which is close by, are small and very pretty Serra de Traumantana Mountain villages close to Soller in North West Mallorca. Being quite high up in the Soller valley both locations benefit from dramatic and beautiful views over the surrounding countryside and mountains.

Fornalutx is the better known of the two villages. Often quoted as the most beautiful village in Mallorca (and sometimes Europe), it is certainly a picture-postcard location and well worth a visit when in the area.

There is a good selection of restaurants and tapas bars, and the walking in the area is excellent for those feeling like some mountain air and exercise.

The village functions mostly as a satellite of Soller, catering for day trippers and offering a few small hotel / inns for those that want to stay and savour the tranquility. There are also townhouses and country house properties to rent in the town and surrounding countryside.

Accessibility

The journey time from Palma de Mallorca and the airport to Fornalutx is around 40 minutes, and Biniaraix is about the same. Both are easily accessible to Soller and its port, and also to Palma de Mallorca through the toll tunnel that goes through the mountains.

This is one of the more accessible mountain villages of Mallorca, so a good location for trips to Puerto de Soller, Deia and other parts of the island.

Property in Fornalutx

Properties in Fornalutx and Biniaraix are traditional townhouses, and a few new build townhouses in a traditional style in keeping with the area. Many of the old houses have been refurbished and offer modern day luxury and some have have been converted into apartments. There are also traditional finca style country house properties in the surrounding countryside.

This is a location for locals and foreigners alike, with many properties being holiday homes and some being rented out. Fornalutx is a super location for those looking for a get-away with some sophistication and wonderful scenery.

Property Prices

The beautiful scenery, proximity to Soller and the sophisticated and cultured atmosphere of the village have made Fornelutx a sought-after location.

Consequently property prices in Fornalutx are moderately high relative to other parts of the island. Biniaraix is a slightly less-expensive alternative.
