Estellencs is nestled away on the coast road that runs along the Traumantana mountains from Puerto de Andratx to Soller.

This is a stunningly pretty little village with just a few locals bars and restaurants, and dramatic mountain coastline scenery. The main activities here stem from the agriculture in the surrounding countryside and this is dominated by the olive growing that is evident in the terraced lands that characterise the area.

Similar to Banyalbufar, Estellencs goes back to Moorish times and it is the Moores that established the terraces that make up the landscape. And as with Banyalbufar, tourism has had little effect on the village, with no tourist developments and little development at all to speak of apart from some old townhouses that have been converted to apartments.

Even day-trippers are quite scarce as, despite it being close to Palma, the roads to get to Estellencs are windy mountain roads and the journey takes some time. Those thinking of owning a property here should consider this and be sure they are looking for a rural mountain retreat and not just a picturesque residence in easy reach of a major town - the former it surely is, the latter it is not!

Accessibility

The journey time from Palma de Mallorca and the airport to Estellencs is around 40 to 50 minutes. Bare in mind though that it is a winding mountain road which takes far more out of you than driving along an A-road or motorway. This is a wonderful place, and its inaccessibility in relation to being relatively close to Mallorca is one of its attractions.

Property in Estellencs

Properties in Estellencs are old traditional townhouses, a few of which have been renovated and others which are ready for renovation. It is not a big town so there are never many properties on the market here.

There are also old fincas and country houses in the surrounding countryside although these also are seldom for sale.

Property Prices

Property prices in Estellencs are quite a bit lower than for Deia which, in terms of scenery and landscape, is a comparable location.
