The Northeast Coast of Mallorca

The upper part of this area is the Southeast side of the Bay of Alcudia which is the second biggest bay in Mallorca after the Bay of Palma. This area is characterised by sand dunes and wonderful empty beaches, much of which is protected and shows very little development. Son Serra de Marina and Colonia de Sant Pere are two small sea-side towns in this area.

As you leave the Bay of Alcudia the coastline changes to a more rocky mountainous scenery. The mountains here are not as high as the Traumantana
range in the north, but still provide
dramatic and beautiful scenery with pine
clad mountains falling away to the sea.
This area - Capdepera - has some great
beaches and is a popular resort location.

Further down the coast the scenery levels out and there are some longer sandy beaches. These are home to resorts such as Cala Millor and Cala Bona which are well-known family holiday resorts.

The main town in this area is Arta which is another of Mallorca's famous Old Towns. It has a great history as well as many good restaurants, bars and shops.

As with the North Coast of Mallorca, the Northeast is a mixture of tourism and the more traditional side to Mallorca. Similarly there is a wide range of types of property available here from sea-side apartments and coastal villas to old Mallorcan townhouses and village houses, and also some stunning country house properties. Prices here are lower than in the north coast area.

Northeast Coast Mallorca locations are easily accessible from Palma de Mallorca and Palma airport which are roughly 45 to 60 minutes drive away depending on location.

Arta

Arta is the main town and centre of the Northeast of Mallorca. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and being located close to some very good coastal resorts, Arta is is an increasingly popular location both for holiday homes and permanent residences.

Son Serra de Marina and Colonia de Sant Pere

Son Serra de Marina and Colonia de Sant Pere are two small harbour resorts on the south side of the Bay of Alcudia. Neither are particularly well known and consequently they offer apartment and villa property opportunities for those seeking a real getaway-from-it-all location with stunning coastal scenery.

Cala Ratjada

Once a fishing village, and still a working fishing port, Cala Ratjada has grown popular as a lively holiday resort and holiday property location with the British. Cala Ratjada offers a range of apartment and villa properties.

Capdepera

Cala Bona and Cala Millor

Cala Millor and Cala Bona are lively holiday resorts with superb beaches, plenty of recreational activities and restaurants. These are real beach holiday spots and good for family holidays - good locations for holiday apartments and relatively inexpensive villa properties.
