To the north of the bay lies the Serra de Cornavaques which is a much smaller mountain range that extends out onto the peninsula of Cap Formentor, the northern tip of Mallorca. The geology of the area creates a beautiful coastal landscape and breathtaking scenery and this has led to Puerto de Pollensa becoming one of the most well-known and popular holiday destinations in Mallorca.
Puerto de Pollensa's harbour is a popular destination for boating enthusiasts and it features a fabulous long sandy beach (Pollensa Beach). There is a second beach too called Albercutx, occasionally referred to as Vormar Beach, which runs from the Marina northward in front of the Pine Walk.
There are plenty of hotels in the town but it does not have the built-up feel of some of the other very popular Mallorca beach resorts. It is a lively place in the season, with lots of bars and a mixture of old traditional Mallorcan restaurants and other types of eatery covering most tastes.
There's lots of activities going on in the resort including scuba diving, all types of boating and other water sports, the golf courses of Alcanada and Golf de Pollensa are within easy reach and the walking and cycling in this area are excellent.

The journey time from Palma de Mallorca and the airport to Puerto de Pollensa is around 45 minutes easy drive. There are many other interesting and useful places nearby, such as Pollensa Old Town, Cala de Sant Vicenc, Alcudia and the Formentor Peninsula - Cap de Formentor.
With a mixture of old and new properties, beautiful countryside and coastline, and a wide variety of activities and pastimes this is a great area both for holiday homes and also in which to live permanently.
Properties in the Port are mostly apartments or townhouses with some villas on the outskirts and in the prime sea-front areas. There is quite a range in style from older holiday villas to ultra-contemporary properties.
This is a sought after area and one of the best property investment locations in Mallorca. Prices are in the upper range but still not as high as the better parts of the South West Coast such as Puerto de Andratx. At the same time many people would say that it offers better value-for-money.
Whether that is true or not, the Pollensa area in general is certainly one of the prime locations to own a property in Mallorca. Puerto de Pollensa should be on your list to consider for a holiday apartment investment or coastal villa property.
Key locations are: The Pine Walk, and exclusive area of Pollensa with some fabulous (but expensive) old sea-front villas and a mixture of old and new apartments, Llenaire; which is a prime location for villa properties; Pinaret, for holiday apartments; Gotmar, for villa properties.
Property prices in Puerto de Pollensa are roughly in line with Pollensa Old Town, so mid-range to the upper-end for Mallorca. The range within types of property extends broadly and there are some relatively inexpensive holiday apartments as well as million Euro plus villas and country homes close in to the town. Sea-view properties obviously command a premium and are highly sought-after.
