There are really three sides to Alcudia: Alcudia Old Town; Puerto de Alcudia and also the area to the south-west of the town which is largely made up of tourist hotels and holiday apartments.
The Old Town is a classic historical Mallorca Old Town that was once the capital town of Mallorca. Puerto de Alcudia adjoins the old town area and is an still-functioning fishing port as well as being home to luxury cruisers and other recreational boats.
Most sorts of entertainment are available in the area including water-sports and a varied nightlife. There are good boating marinas in Puerto de Alcudia and Bonaire (Mal Pas Bonaire), and one of Europe's finest golf courses is in Alcanada.
The beaches of the Bay of Alcudia are stunning long sandy beaches. The beaches around the main hotel districts get busy in the summer, but one only has to walk along them, or take a short drive away from the more built-up areas to find much quieter locations.

A little further round the Bay of Alcudia the beaches are bordered by sand dunes and offer even more crowd-free environments, so very type of "day out on the beach" is well catered for, making Alcudia a great location for family holidays.
There are some extremely good old establishment restaurants in Old Town Alcudia and the Port including some superb tapas bars and fish restaurants in particular.
There is also a wide range of newer establishments in this area, and there are many holiday-oriented bars, restaurants and clubs in the hotel district to the south-west of the town.
The journey time from Palma de Mallorca and the airport to Alcudia is around 40 minutes by car with the Ma-13 from Palma running for most of the distance. Alcudia is also within easy reach of Pollensa, Puerto de Pollensa, and also other North East Coast resorts such as Can Picafort, Son Serra de Marina and Colonia de Sant Pere.
There is a wide range of type of property in the Alcudia area. Alcudia Old Town offers traditional townhouse properties, Puerto de Alcudia offers apartments and modern villas, and Bonaire (Mal Pas Bonaire) offers some very nice sea view properties overlooking the Bay of Pollensa.
Bonaire in particular is a very interesting location for anyone looking for a sea view holiday villa or permanent home in a prime area but at a lower price than Pollensa. Puerto de Alcudia is a popular location to own holiday apartments.
Property prices in Alcudia and Bonaire are slightly lower than for equivalent properties in Puerto de Pollensa or Puerto de Andratx.
Similarly there is a broad range in prices as properties vary from relatively inexpensive holiday apartments and apartments which are permanent homes to Alcudia residents, to luxury sea-front villas in Alcanada and Bonaire and country house properties costing several millions of Euros.
