The North Coast of Mallorca

The North Coast of Mallorca is a mixture of beautiful mountain scenery and stunning coastline. This is where the Serra de Traumantana Mountain range reaches its highest points, and then drops down to the sea and merges with Cap Formentor on the north side of the Bay of Pollensa.

The mountainous part of the coast is untouched by developments, and then as you head round the northern tip of the island there are some of the most well known destinations such as Puerto
de Pollensa and Puerto de Alcudia.
Aswell as the resort towns there are
some notable Old Towns, the most
famousof which is Pollensa Old Town or
Pollensa "village" which is a few minutes
drive inland from the port.

The area is well known for walking and cycling holidays as well as the more conventional beach holidays. Villa rental holidays are also very popular in this area.

Properties here reflect the mixture of tourism and the more traditional side to Mallorca. There are sea-side apartments, coastal villas, old Mallorcan townhouses and village houses, and also some stunning country house properties.

The North Coast of Mallorca is easily accessible from Palma de Mallorca and the airport as the Ma-13 motorway covers most of the route from the SE to the North. Journey times by car vary from around 35 minutes to 50 minutes depending on location.

Pollensa Old Town

One of the most well-known "Old Towns" in Mallorca. Nestled at the foot of the mountains, Pollensa is in a dramatic and beautiful yet easily accessible location. There is a new part to the town as well as the old part that is steeped in history. A fascinating place to visit, Pollensa is a prime Mallorca location for both holiday homes and permanent residences.

Puerto de Pollensa

Puerto de Pollensa is a beach resort with a wide variety of restaurants, bars and recreational pastimes. The beach itself is the focal point of the town and is a long sandy beach that is ideal for holidays. Puerto de Pollensa looks out over the Bay of Pollensa, one of the most stunning coastal locations in Mallorca.

Alcudia Old Town and Puerto de Alcudia

As with Pollensa Old Town and Puerto de Pollensa, Alcudia Old Town is a slightly separate from the Port. This also is a fascinating Old Town with a deep history to it. The port offers some great restaurants and a wide range of entertainment. To the south of the town are more touristy developments and some great long sandy beaches. Another good location for both holiday villas and apartment properties as well as permanent homes.

Cap Formentor

Cap Formentor is the rocky peninsula to the north of the Bay of Pollensa. Formentor forms the northern-most tip of Mallorca and offers dramatic scenery as you wind your way there from Puerto de Pollensa. This area is also home to some of the most exclusive and expensive residences in Europe.

Campanet and Buger

Campanet and Buger are both slightly inland as you head in a south-west direction from Pollensa Old Town. They are both very picturesque Mallorcan Old Towns with great views to the mountains and surrounded by beautiful countryside. Property prices here are slightly lower than for the better known North Coast Mallorca locations so they have a lot to offer by way of old traditional townhouses and also country houses, either as a holiday home or permanent residence for those looking for a quieter "more authentic" location.

Cala de Sant Vincenc

Cala de Sant Vincenc is a small resort town just to the North of Pollensa. The town has three lovely small beaches, some very good restaurants and several bars. Cala de Sant Vincenc is easily accessible yet has not become over-run. Ideal for family holiday homes with some relatively inexpensive coastal villa properties as well as sea-side apartments.
