Manacor is located at the centre of the East of Mallorca. It is Mallorca's second city, a market town, centre of commerce, agriculture and local industry including the artificial pearls for which it is famous.

Other local produce going back through the ages includes clay bricks and furniture made from local pine and olive wood. These industries all carry through to current times.

Manacor is best known internationally for being the home town of Rafa Nadal. It is very much a working town however and the commercial hub of this part of the island (the Manacor Municipality).

The countryside in this area is typical of this part of Es Pla (the Central plain), where the landscape becomes a bit more varied than the southern and central parts of the plain as it gives way to rolling hills as one moves toward the coast.

Accessibility

The journey time from Palma airport is around 40 minutes. Manacor is within easy reach of the North East and East Coast areas including resorts such as Cala Millor and Porto Cristo.

Property in Manacor

Being a working Mallorcan town as it is, Manacor is not in itself a destination for holiday properties. It could however be a destination for those looking to relocate to Mallorca and work here, although it is a very Spanish environment so don't expect the easy ride regarding language and culture that expats get in many other parts of the island.

The surrounding countryside offers both modern and old traditional finca style country houses which could be either permanent residences or second homes. These have the advantage of being in lovely countryside and close to stunning parts of the Mallorcan coast including Porto Cristo.

Property Prices

Property prices in the Manacor area are generally lower than one would find for properties in the parts of Mallorca that are better known amongst foreigners. There however some large villas and, grand townhouses and some notable country estates. These rarely come onto the market. They are very desirable properties and are priced accordingly.
