Felanitx is a Mallorca Old Town and is capital of the municipality of Felanitx. As such it is one of the larger towns in the South East of Mallorca.

Felanitx lies near the medieval Sant Salvador Monastery with its Gothic architecture. It is a with a deep history.

These days Felanitx is a market town and agricultural centre, being in the middle of a productive wine producing area and also being famed for its capers. Very much a working community, this is a charming and typical South East Mallorcan town.

Felanitx is also particularly famous for its brandy, with over 60 distilleries in the local area recorded in 1749. Production of earthen wares and other pottery is also a local industry and various pottery items have been produced there since at least the 3rd century BC.

Accessibility

Felanitx is within about 40 minutes drive from Palma de Mallorca and the airport, and within 10 to 15 minutes or so from resorts such as Cala d'Or and Porto Petro.

Properties in Felanitx are a mixture of old traditional townhouses, newer townhouses and apartments, and country houses / fincas in the outskirts and surrounding countryside.

Until recently this was mainly an area for Mallorcan and possibly Spanish residents although now, as more people relocate to Mallorca and seek authentic Mallorcan towns, Felanitx is becoming an increasingly popular location for a holiday property or permanent expat residence.

This is an area to consider if you are looking for a permanent home in a genuine Mallorcan town, or a townhouse or country property as a getaway in an authentic location with the coast close-by.

Property prices in Felanitx are among the higher prices in the South East Coast of Mallorca, although the area as a whole is generally less expensive than the South West and North regions.
