The East coast of Mallorca is is made up of many small "callas" (small sandy coves) and some larger sandy bays. It is a very beautiful stretch of the Mallorca coastline and much of it is protected. So whilst there are some densely packed tourist developments they do not spoil the character and beauty of the area.
Towns on the East Coast are a mixture of such coastal resorts and old traditional still-functioning fishing towns. Inland there are many small villages which have remained largely unchanged by tourism.
There are some stunning sandy beaches
in this part of Mallorca. With clear "Blue
flag" waters thet are unpolluted and healthy for bathing. Some of the best beaches in Mallorca can be found at Cala Mesquida, Cala Mitjana and Cala Torta.
In addition to its beaches the area has lots of attractions including boating, golf and other sports. There are many attractions for site-seeing such as the Coves del Drac for which this part of Mallorca is famous.
The focus for property opportunities here is coastal villas and apartments, including resale and new off-plan properties including some community developments. The area is easily accessible from Palma de Mallorca and the airport with journey times by car varying from around 45 minutes to 60 minutes or so depending on location.
Sa Coma is one of the better known resorts on the East Coast. Similar to Cala Millor and Cala Bona, Sa Coma was built relatively recently. The focal point of the town is its super long sandy beach which is great for swimming, sunbathing and offers a range of water sports. A great family resort with plenty on offer including a good selection of shops, bars and restaurants.
