The Mediterranean also creates a breeze called the "Embat" that is drawn off the sea and cools the island during the summer when the sun is at its hottest.

The weather in Mallorca can change quickly due to he mountain ranges and surrounding sea which create the "Embat" air currents and micro-climatic conditions. If anything this adds to the environment as Mallorca escapes the scorching humidity of other Southern Mediterranean locations. So if there is rain you can usually rest assured it will pass quickly and the sunshine will return.
The weather in Mallorca does also vary across different areas. South and Southeast Mallorca tend to be the warmest and driest. The Serra de Traumantana mountain range gets more rainfall and cooler temperatures. In the summer months this can be welcome however.

Temperatures in April and May see average highs of 23ºC. There is generally sporadic rainfall but always plenty of sunshine too.
The summer months are hot and see little rainfall with July and August being the hottest months seeing highs of around 30ºC and daytime temperatures sometimes reaching the mid 30s or even 40ºC!
October sees average highs of 23ºC and autumn is generally the wettest period on the island. There will still be days of sunshine though and it is not uncommon to see people on the beach right up until December. This is one of the reasons the "out-of-season" holiday and rental markets are becoming more active with people seeking a slightly cooler climate and less holiday makers than the peak summer months.
Winter temperatures are mild - very mild compared to the UK! The lowest temperatures are seen in January with averages of around 9ºC although there is more variance. Temperatures over 15ºC in the daytime are quite common and the nights can be chilly. In the mountains temperatures can drop below zero - the more so the higher you go, and on the highest peaks there is sometimes some snowfall although it tends not to last very long.
