Calvia, Es Capdella and Puigpunyent

Calvia Town, Es Capdella and Puigpunyent are three traditional Mallorca mountainside towns all within easy reach of the Southwest Coast and Palma.

Calvia is the main town in the region which also encompasses coastal locations like Santa Ponsa and Port Adriano. Quiet and traditional, it is located on a small hillside overlooking the Mallorcan countryside.

The area has prospered with the development of the holiday industry and is reputedly one of the wealthiest municipalities in Europe. It has, however, retained its character and Calvia Town itself is not really a tourist location, save for day trippers, including cyclists and walkers.

Other than this, the town is very much for its residents and offers some good local restaurants and tapas bars. The Calvia market every Monday is as much for socializing and catching up as it is for buying the local produce.

Es Capdella is a village not far from Calvia, and Puigpunyent is another small town a about 10 minutes further into the foothills of the mountains. All have become popular places to own second homes. Calvia, being within reach of the international schools, has become popular for relocation too.

Journey time from Palma de Mallorca is around 20 minutes with Es Capdella and Puigpunyent both taking around 25 minutes.

Properties and prices

In the towns themselves the properties are mostly old traditional townhouses together with a few newer developments. There are desirable country houses around the towns.
