Puerto Andratx, Camp de Mar and Sant Elm

The western tip of Mallorca is home to Puerto Andratx, Andratx Town, Camp de Mar and the enchanting seaside resort of Sant Elm, each a sought-after location but each quite different.

Puerto Andratx is a picturesque natural harbour, still a fishing port and now one of the most desirable places in Mallorca in which to own a second home. Andratx Town is a couple of minutes drive from the port and is more for permanent homes.

Camp de Mar is a beach and golf resort, while Sant Elm is a tiny fishing-village resort, hidden away where the foothills of the mountains meet the sea.

Journey time from Palma and the airport varies from about 25 minutes to Camp de Mar, a few minutes more to Puerto Andratx and around 35 minutes to Sant Elm.

Puerto Andratx has developed from a fishing village to being a chic holiday destination as well as popular location for up-market second homes. Still a working fishing harbour, the catch can be bought from the quay. Local Mallorcan restaurants combine with modern establishments to create a unique character.

This is one of Mallorca’s main leisure marinas, with a newly rebuilt, well resourced yacht club. There is just one small beach and there are only three hotels, so this is not really a beach-holiday resort and does not get too overrun, something that is an attraction for many property buyers.

As a residential town there are plenty of good quality shops and other amenities open all year, making this a suitable location for permanent living. However, Andratx Town a few minutes drive away has a stronger all-year-round community and is a more likely location for those looking to relocate to the area.

Properties and prices

The international market in Puerto Andratx is focus on sea view apartments and villas. There are a few developments where apartments can be bought from around €200,000. Higher quality properties will be more, with good 2 beds costing from €300,000 up.

Sant Elm is a picture-postcard fishing village and resort overlooking the island and nature reserve of Dragonera on the west tip of Mallorca.

Slightly off the beaten track, this is a quiet resort with a few old seafront villas, some old apartment developments and just one modern apartment development.

There is a lovely small sandy beach and a promenade of good seafood restaurants, making this a place people return to year after year for relaxing holidays. It is also popular with the Spanish as a location for second homes.
