Santanyi is the main town on the Southeast Coast of Mallorca. It is a picturesque, historic town which has become popular with international property buyers wanting to be close to the calas found in this part of the island.

Founded in around 1300, Santanyi’s heritage as a fortified coastal town is evident in the remains of the old city wall that can still be seen today. Today it is a very smart town with an interesting variety of local shops and restaurants reflecting its cosmopolitan nature.

Holiday visitors are mostly day trippers from near-by resorts such as Cala d’Or and Porto Petro. Santanyi is, however, very much an all-year-round place with a comprehensive selection of amenities and a good weekly market.

Journey time from Palma de Mallorca and the airport is around 40-50 minutes. Other popular Southeast Coast resorts such as Cala Figuera, Porto Petro and Cala d’Or are a short drive away.

Properties and prices

There are old traditional townhouses with smaller properties starting around €300,000. Newer properties are mostly apartments which start around €220,000. Sought-after features are good outside spaces and access to a pool.

Country houses in this area start around €550,000 for a smallish habitable property although the focus of international buyers in this area has tended to be on larger and more expensive properties.
