Northeast Coast

The southern part of the Bay of Alcudia extends round Capdepera down to Canyamel to form the Northeast Coast of Mallorca.

It is an area of varied and beautiful scenery offering good opportunities for both holiday homes and relocation.

While the north/northwest parts of Alcudia Bay are quite commercial, the southern part has very little development.

Much of it is protected, consisting of long near-empty beaches and sand dunes. The attractive resorts of Son Serra de Marina and Colonia Sant Pere are the only two seaside towns in the area.

As you head out of Alcudia Bay around Capdepera the coastline changes to a more rocky, mountainous landscape. The pine-clad mountains provide dramatic and beautiful scenery falling away to the sea below. There are some great beaches and popular resorts such as Cala Ratjada and Canyamel.

The main town is Arta, another of Mallorca’s famous “old-towns”. It has a deep history as well as many good restaurants, bars and varied shops. There is strong permanent community of both locals and residents from overseas making it a consideration for relocation and permanent living as well as for holiday homes.

There is a range of types of property available, from seaside apartments and coastal villas to traditional old Mallorcan town and village houses. There are lovely country houses too, with prices generally being slightly lower than on the north coast.

Northeast Coast Mallorca is roughly 45 to 60 minutes drive from Palma airport depending on exact destination.
