Manacor and Felanitx

The countryside of the eastern / southeastern interior offers an undulating rural landscape with some of the most characterful country villages in Mallorca.

Manacor and Felanitx themselves are relatively large, Manacor having the status of being Mallorca’s second city and Felanitx being the commercial center of the Southeast. While they have plenty to offer day trippers, they are essentially “working” towns and less-likely places for international property buyers.

The surrounding countryside however offers a variety of attractive locations, in particular for country houses. The most notable are to the southeast of Manacor and in the countryside around Felanitx. Here the flat, agricultural landscape of central Mallorca gives way to a more varied countryside and a small mountain range.

This part of the island is better known to Germans but other nationalities are increasingly more attracted to the area. The slightly warmer climate and proximity to a wonderful coastline are a draw to holiday makers and property buyers alike.

Country villages in the area such as Cas Concos, Calonge and S’Aqueria Blanca have a unique character quite different to that of small towns and villages of the north and west of the island. They are renowned for having excellent restaurants and some very good, if rather expensive, art galleries. The more contemporary side to these villages integrates almost unnoticeably with the more traditional side of Mallorcan country life.

The Manacor and Felanitx areas are both easily accessible from Palma and the airport. Journey times vary from around 35 minutes to 1 hour depending on exact location.

Properties and prices

International buyers tend to focus on this area for country houses. An attractive 3/4 bed property in reasonable condition might be obtainable for €500,000 to €600,000.

Larger and more desirable properties will be €1.2 million upward and the best properties in prime locations will be €1.7 or more. Some properties have panoramic views over the countryside to the sea and these command a premium.
